Since I have played just about every decent, and many not so decent, MMO’s I am always looking for the next best thing. While I don’t believe that this game is going to fulfill that empty void in my soul, it does show some great promise for the potential of the MMO’s of the future (aka “Next-Gen MMO’s”). Unfortunately, it is only going be be on the Playstation 3 console and PC. But perhaps it will be the game that causes me to invest in the PS3…

In the Agency, you don’t fill the role of warrior, priest, medic or space marine instead you play a “James Bond” type of role, or a femme fatale for all you guys out there. One feature I find interesting is the concept of “Operatives”. The Operative is essentially a “living” item within the game that does stuff for you, think Q or any of the agents back in CT headquarters who help/hunt Jack Bauer.

These Operatives actually are able to help you out during and in between your missions. The innovative part of this is that you can actually have your Operatives working on stuff while your offline, then they can email you at work or even text your cell phone with information. The example I liked in the video is an Operative who is captured and the enemy agents basically demand you send them $1 million dollars or the Operative dies. The quote is something like, “Text 1 to send $1 million or Text 2 to let him die.”

That’s just one aspect that seems pretty cool to me. The other is Qbert…who doesn’t love Qbert.
