1. Adventure Atari 2600 – This was really my first RPG to note. It was nothing more than a square that would sometimes carry a stupid looking sword that looked more like a crossbow. There were bats, dragons and a story line. I believe that this game shaped many RPG’s to come in the coming generations.

2. Bards Tale II – Wow. This game brings back a ton of memories on the Commadore 64 playing on hot summer nights into the early morning. The endless maze of the city and dungeons. So hard to keep track of. I could not stop playing this game. Bard’s Tale II was the first game I ever experienced that had progression, leveling, armor and weapon upgrades.

3. Playing a simulation baseball game that was driven on stats and seasons. Me and my high school buddies played this all summer long, owning teams and learning a lot of baseball history. Thanks Earl Weaver Baseball.

4. This was my first experience with Lord British. Exploration really drew me in. I could not wait to open the next segment of the map. Hoping to find a hidden island. I could not wait to play this game. It was fun and long lasting.

5. This was a stand up version I was lucky enough to have in my basement all one summer. Me and Mr. Johnson played this game endlessly. My love for side scrollers was born.

6. A space shooter delight. Acting in a video game…. This was my first game that I enjoyed that had voice acting in the game with scripts. I believe that this game set the stage for the next evolution in gaming…..becoming entertainment.

7. There is nothing better than a room full of buddies sitting around and playing a game in a round robin fashion. I would strive to recreate the experience I had with this game for the rest of my years. It was a weekly ritual. We would all gather at my place waiting for everyone to get there to play Warhammer table top games.

Warcraft I 8. Enter RTS. Real time strategy games began to consume my life with this game. The enjoyment of beating your good buddy to a pulp was ever satisfying.

9. My first MMO experience. A world that would persist all the time. A novel idea that took hold and has not left the gaming scene since.

10. Yes Doom was around way before this game. Half – life gripped me and took my gaming experience to a new level. Mods Mods and more Mods. This was a very long lived game on my PC.

I’m sure you all had some games that shaped your gaming preferences. I am interested in hearing about them. I probably played them and I can’t wait to relive some found memories.
