Rock Band continues to roll out some great tunes. This week they gave us a little something for everyone. From the mainstream music of the B-52′s (Roam) to the rocking classic from Kiss (Calling Dr. Love) they even threw us a bone with Faith No More’s (We Care A Lot). It has been a good week for Rock Band downloadable content. Below you will find the latest Wikipedia posts on the songs and links that you can buy the Mp3′s for the songs from Rock Band.
Wikipedia – “Roam” was the second hit single from The B-52′s 1989 hit album Cosmic Thing, following “Love Shack“. Roam was a top-ten hit on Billboard’s Hot Singles Charts during March of 1990. Subaru of New Zealand used “Roam” in a 2004 television commercial. The song is available as downloadable content in the music video game Rock Band.
Wikipedia – Calling Dr. Love” is a song by the American hard rock band Kiss, originally released on their 1976 album Rock and Roll Over. The song was written by Kiss bassist/lead vocalist Gene Simmons. It was the second single released from the album, and the group’s fourth US Top 20 single, reaching #16 in Billboard. The song’s title came from Gene Simmons’ recollection of a Three Stooges short called Men in Black, containing an announcement over a hospital intercom, “Calling Doctor Howard, Doctor Fine, Doctor Howard”, meaning Moe, Larry and Curly, respectively.
A live version of the song was included on Alive II, released later in 1977. Since then, “Calling Dr. Love” has appeared on numerous Kiss compilation albums. In 2003, it appeared on Kiss’s fifth live album, Kiss Symphony: Alive IV.
In 1994, the song was recorded and re-arranged by the one-off supergroup Shandi’s Addiction (vocalist Maynard James Keenan, guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Billy Gould, and drummer Brad Wilk) as part of the Kiss tribute album Kiss My Ass: Classic Kiss Regrooved. The band’s name was taken from “Shandi,” a song from the 1980 Kiss album Unmasked.
The song was released as downloadable content in the music video game Rock Band.
Share ThisWikipedia -“We Care a Lot” is a 1988 single by rock band Faith No More. It was released on the albums We Care a Lot and Introduce Yourself. It is one of the band’s most famous songs[citation needed]. It is notable as one of the first songs to blend rock, funk, and hip hop music[citation needed].
The lyrics of this song are about a range of things the band ironically claims to ‘care a lot’ about, such as the LAPD, the “food that Live Aid bought” and even the Garbage Pail Kids. The original version, released in 1985, mentioned Madonna and Mr. T. This was altered for social relevance in the 1987 rerelease.
In 2005, the Discovery Channel program Dirty Jobs began to use the bridge portion of the song (“It’s a dirty job, but someone’s gotta do it”) as its theme song.
The bass part bears a resemblance to that of “Stay Up Late” from the Talking Heads‘ 1985 album Little Creatures.
The song continued to be sung by Mike Patton during the band’s later tours, occasionally changing the mention of Rock Hudson in the lyrics to Rodney King[citation needed].
The song will be released as downloadable content in the music video game Rock Band.
