MOH Airborne starts out a lot like the rest of the series….some great cut scenes that lead you on to your next missions in WW II. The game starts out with you jumping out of the plane and landing. If you head towards the green smoke…it is a safe area…no kidding. The rest of the areas you will just have to take your chances. You have some limited control over your landing area. Landing on top of buildings is usually a safe bet and you can clean a spot out. Don’t get too far in front of the rest of the troops, one yank vs a ton of Germans is a no win situation.

Helping your fellow soldiers out is a must, the more good guys the better. You can either lead the charge or sit back and poke some holes in the German defenses to let your fellow Yanks get in there. Flanking enemy positions is a valuable tool and there usually a back way to get to most machine gun posts.

The mission was pretty straight forward…seek and destroy some AA guns. It sounds simple enough…street fighting and house to house fights are the worst for any GI. You get some helpful words along the way and as usually always follow the steady stream of good guys to the fight.

The AI was hit or miss for me. Sometimes I would be amazed about the pathing the enemy would come to get me. Other times I would be standing right by a German and he wouldn’t even bother to shake my hand. Speaking of which…..nothing is quite so satisfying as smashing the bad guys with the butt end of your weapon.

If you have played the Medal of Honor series before, you will be satisfied. The biggest down fall is its biggest plus. Every time you die you have to jump out of the plane again. The enemies respawn and you have to fight your way back through. Thankfully the first mission had several mission legs and you only had to go down one leg at a time.

The graphics were sound, although not breath taking. The controls took a bit getting used to, what one would normally think to be the reload button would be crouch. A bit of a learning curve to over come some GEARS habits but not too bad. I liked it. I wanted to get to the end of the mission to be completely satisfied. Did it compel me to buy it…..nope…would I get it from GAMEFLY….yes. There is simply too many great games out there for this to be a buy right now. I could change my mind after I get all the must haves. If you have bought MOH before …it is going to be a buy for you. As well as all those who are intrigued with WW II games.
